Dementia Awareness and Support — Person-Centred Care for the Care Workforce
Supporting a person living with dementia well is about seeing the person, not the diagnosis — and the support worker is often the one who spends the most time with them. This practical course builds dementia capability for the care and aged-care workforce. It covers understanding dementia and its types; person-centred care and knowing the individual; communicating well and connecting beyond words; understanding changed behaviours as communication and responding supportively; everyday support, meaningful activity and dignity of risk; and the journey, families and looking after yourself. Every lesson ends with a realistic, fictional scenario.
This course is an educational aid for the care sector, not clinical or medical advice, and not a substitute for a person’s treating team, their care plan, or your organisation’s policies. It is non-accredited; no CPD points or accreditation are claimed. Content current as of 5 August 2026. v1.0. Reviewed and approved by Clarity Care’s AHPRA-registered clinician, 5 August 2026.
