Manual Handling Essentials for Care Teams — Manual handling — moving, transferring and supporting people, and the everyday lifting, pushing and pulling around it — is the single biggest cause of injury in care work. This course helps your support workers and nurses recognise hazardous manual tasks, work through the risk safely, and use safe person-handling that protects both them and the people they support.

Who it’s for: NDIS and aged-care support workers, community nurses, and the supervisors who lead them.

What you’ll be able to do: recognise hazardous manual tasks, work the four-step risk management process, use safe person-handling and the right equipment, handle the highest-risk care tasks, and report and review so injuries are prevented rather than repeated.

Six lessons, 25 topics, with a knowledge check and a real-world scenario in every lesson, self-contained diagrams, and a printable safe-transfer quick card, plus end-of-lesson quizzes and a final quiz. All guidance is cited to WorkSafe WA, the WA Code of Practice: Hazardous manual tasks, the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 (WA).

Content current as of 15 July 2026. v1.0. Non-accredited — no CPD points or accreditation are claimed. This course is a training aid, not a substitute for your organisation’s manual-handling policy or for occupational-therapy/physiotherapy assessment of a specific person.
