Cultural Safety — Respectful, Culturally Safe Support for the Care Workforce
Culturally safe support is judged by the person receiving it — whether they feel respected, safe to be themselves, and free of racism and judgement. This practical course builds cultural safety capability for the care workforce, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and on culturally and linguistically diverse participants. It covers what cultural safety is and that it is defined by the person; understanding culture and history; examining your own biases and practising cultural humility; culturally safe communication and everyday support; recognising and responding to racism and cultural harm; and sustaining cultural safety over time. Every lesson ends with a realistic, fictional scenario.
This course is an educational aid and an introduction — a starting point for ongoing learning led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, not an endpoint or a substitute for it. It is non-accredited; no CPD points or accreditation are claimed. Content current as of 5 August 2026. v1.0. Reviewed and approved by Clarity Care’s AHPRA-registered clinician, 5 August 2026.
