When a fire, flood, heatwave, outbreak or power failure hits, the people you support can be more exposed than most — and keeping them safe depends on the worker on shift knowing what to do. This practical course builds emergency and disaster capability for support workers and their supervisors. It covers what counts as an emergency and your duty under the NDIS Practice Standards; preparedness and individual emergency plans; responding safely in the moment; keeping each participant’s critical supports going through a disruption; the common emergencies faced in Western Australia; and recovery, review and everyday readiness. Every lesson ends with a realistic, fictional scenario.

This course is an educational aid for the care sector, not emergency advice or a substitute for your organisation’s plans and emergency services. It is non-accredited; no CPD points or accreditation are claimed. Content current as of 29 July 2026. v1.0. Reviewed and approved by Clarity Care’s AHPRA-registered clinician, 29 July 2026.
