Falls Prevention Essentials for Care Teams
Falls Prevention Essentials for Care Teams — Falls are one of the most common and most serious harms in care — and most are preventable. This course helps your support workers and nurses understand why people fall, spot and reduce the risk factors, support safe movement, and respond well when a fall happens, so participants keep both their safety and their independence.
Who it’s for: NDIS and aged-care support workers, community and SIL staff, nurses, and the supervisors who lead them.
What you’ll be able to do: explain why falls happen, spot and reduce intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors, support safe mobility while respecting dignity of risk, respond safely when someone falls, and use every fall to prevent the next one.
Six lessons, 25 topics, with a knowledge check and a real-world scenario in every lesson, a self-contained risk-factors diagram, and a printable falls-prevention quick card, plus end-of-lesson quizzes and a final quiz. All guidance is cited to the ACSQHC Preventing Falls and Harm from Falls guidelines (2025), Stay On Your Feet (WA), and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.
