Work Health and Safety Essentials for Care Teams — Work health and safety (WHS) is everyone’s job, and care work carries real risks — from manual handling and infection to aggression, stress and fatigue. This course gives your team the WHS foundations: their rights and duties, how to manage risk, the main hazards in care, psychosocial safety, and what to do when something goes wrong. It’s the umbrella the more specific safety courses sit under.

Who it’s for: All NDIS and aged-care workers — support workers, nurses, community and SIL staff — and their supervisors.

What you’ll be able to do: understand the WHS system and your rights and duties, manage risk with the hierarchy of controls, recognise the main hazards in care (including aggression and psychosocial risk), respond to incidents and emergencies including notifiable incidents, and help build a safe culture.

Six lessons, 25 topics, with a knowledge check and a real-world scenario in every lesson, self-contained diagrams, and a printable WHS quick card, plus end-of-lesson quizzes and a final quiz. It’s the umbrella course for ClarityLearn’s Manual Handling, Infection Control and Falls Prevention essentials. All guidance is cited to the WHS Act 2020 (WA), the WHS (General) Regulations 2022 (WA) and WorkSafe WA.
